You'll have to trim at least one panel to build that station. As it is you can't do inside corners.

There are bridge and girder sets that come with square base pieces for building bridges and roads as well. There are sets that are combined bridge and girder and girder and panel that can be used to build both.
Got a set from my childhood. We have used it to build a factory with a siding running into it.
The sets come with some panels with one or both top corners cut out so they fit under a crossbeam. They also come with some with one edge trimmed off so that an inside corner can be made with either 2 panels with one edge trimmed or one panel with a cut corner and one panel with a trimmed edge.
It works better if you get some of the square road bases and cut them in half and use those as foundations on the sides where the track runs into leaving the track flat on the platform. That way you don't have that hump going into your station/loading dock. You can also make some foundation blocks out of pressed board.
These sets are from the 60s so be aware that with age, the plastic girders tend to get brittle. On our old set the top corners tend to break off on the upright girders. The crossbeams tend to break in half with too much stress. The panels tend to split around the holes where they fasten to the upright girders. Because they are plastic, things also warp and sometimes tend not to fit together correctly. Sometimes you have to change out either an upright girder or crossbeam to get things to fit right.
They can make cool looking buildings on a platform. If you really want it to look good, don't use the base and drill holes right into the platform.

I did not know that. The set I had in the '70s didn't have any special panels. However, there was evidence the box had been opened before my parents purchased it. I also remember not immediately opening all the sealed bags that were in the box and having one of those sealed bags disappear. I searched and searched through the trash for that bag but never found it! Thinking about that is making me a little sad right now!

I know this is supposed to be a train forum, so I've tied in railroad stations to these pictures.
I had this set - set #8. There was one biger - set #9. These were the grand daddy of these sets.

Microbusss - Here are examples of the footers my dad made with pressed board and we cut in half along with examples of the panels with notched corners and one with a cut edge.

These next pictures show how to make a stable inside corner with one notched corner and one cut edge panel. It can also be done with 2 cut edge panels, but it is nat as stable.

Now we get to the train part. 2 more station/factory "drive thru" variations for trains.

Here is another building set, American Skyline, I had as a kid that we have used for stations.

Here's a plan for a station. We also built a "drive thru" station.

would you believe thats the exact set I got 2 weeks ago at a garage sale for $3? The box is bad so recycling that but have put all the signs, girders & others in plastic zip bags & into another smaller box the Skyline is neat but does look funny with a freight train in the station instead of a passenger

Hey guys?
Wouldn't this make a good structure for the modern-equivalent Tyco train set? It just looks like the perfect kind of toy for a model railroad
