I have a idea for a really good Mantua steamer remotor. I wanna take the worm gear and sandwich it between to brass plates to hold it idle and in mesh over the main gear. Then I wanna run a drive shaft with u-joints and place a motor and possibly a flywheel in the general cab/fire box area. Also, how much of a gear ratio change would occur if I used a gear box from the Mantua articulated logger?

| Yardbird trains has a good solution is better low speed control and a flywheel are what you are after. They sell a can motor that has a flywheel mounted to a shaft. The flywheel itself is the gear. The groves are on the sides for the flywheel. A bracket is included for mounting it in the locomotive.

Dan said his machinist retired and we won't see these be made until another machinist steps up. Helix Humper has something similar. There is more room in the fire box/cab area than anywhere else. The flywheels was a idea if the right sized fly could be found and the boiler interior re-shaped or enlarged.
