As I acuire 50's Tyco cars and locos, I was wondering if there is a way to preseve the decals? I remember reading a tip somewhere long ago that a little petrolium jelly helps keeping them from drying out . True? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

In the slot car world the guys use Future floor polish. Keep in mind it will bring a sheen to things and if the decal is a water slide style it may move or curl.

Micro-Scale makes a product specifically for this purpose:

http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MI-12&

That page may make your eyes bleed, or at least take you back to 1997, but the description tells all if you can power through it. I have used some once or twice and it seemed to work as advertised. But I've not had too many occasions to use it.
