Anyone ever replace a set of wheels on a Mantual lighted passenger car?

One of the platic wheels has a broken flange and I'd like to replace it. In looking at the truck it seems to be pretty solid with no play in it to pull it apart to get the old axle out and put a new one in. I'm afraid of breaking the truck.

Anyone ever done that? Any tips would be appreciated.

They're a little tough to remove. May have to slightly bend the frames out, just be very gentle. Any wheels from any Mantua tender steamer of the era will work.
