Hello Forum members...
Just returning since yesterday, I have noticed underlined words in responses and in signature lines. Hypertext...
You may have seen and moused over them. DO NOT CLICK THEM!!!
IT IS SPAM! And not the edible kind!
John
Please respond if you have seen it, too. I need to know if it is just me or Forum-wide.
I will add to this post... I am now seeing it in Member Profiles.
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

I need to be told by someone if you also have seen or experienced the same. Because...
I bought a computer last week, an upgrade from the previous one.
I need to know if I am the only one seeing what I am explaining.
Please respond.

| I get that sometimes when using Chrome as a browser on various sites. I figure it's part of the browser.

There are various extensions (plugins) for Chrome that can do things to words on the page such as provide word definitions, shopping links, language (learning) translations, and other stuff. But to my knowledge none of this is typically a default setting for a fresh or new installation.
This forum has almost always converted text URLs to clickable links, such as those in my signature and elsewhere.

THANK YOU!
I needed to know that. I use Chrome.
So, it really isn't Spam, then.
I recently downloaded Chrome to my newest computer.
[X] Express Install (Recommended)
Okay, I shoulda paid a wee bit more attention to what was getting loaded: "... is typically a default setting for a fresh or new installation. spiderj76
The mystery is solved.
Again, thank you.

One more time...
I uninstalled a "Plugin" called "Coupon blah blah blah..." Looks like some sort of compass-pen-knife icon.
While this isn't a model train show & tell topic, it is a learning circumstance. While not an error on my part for posting a warning everyone about this "Spam," perhaps this announcement may shed some light onto your own experience. The "hyperlinks" and "pop-up" images are gone. The "Miracle-fat-burner-pill" advertisements are gone from other webpages I visit. (thank dog! )
Okay, now back to the forum at large!
