TO ALL MEMBERS: While talking to EM-1 (John, who is the proprietor of Yellowstone Train Repairs and who is a very good friend of mine) on the phone last night, he asked me to post this notice for him, since he can not do it himself at this time. About a week ago, John, slipped and fell on the ice and snow and broke his right hand in two places (and yes he is right handed). This means he will not be able to do any train repairs for at least six weeks while his hand mends. To make matters worse, he is looking for another computer to replace the one that just conked out. If you have ever lost the use of your primary hand you know how frustrating this can be. When John gets back on line, he will only be able to use his left hand. He asks that anyone having work being done in his shop, be patient with him while he is recovering from the injury. Thank you.

Having once damaged my writing hand in an accident, I can sympathize with his pains physically and in not being able to use the internet much. Good luck, get better, and make use of your situation and learn how to use your left hand a little bit.
I was so useful to my scout patrol once I learned to saw left handed...

Hand, hell try coming off a Horse going the heaven side of 45mph and hitting the ground so hard that the spinal inflammation meant you were in hospital for 10 days being spoon fed and having your Bum changed! Plus a month at home in bed pretty much the same with the Mrs doing the honours. Good thing she had been a Nanny! ;)
-Gareth PS: forgot to mention that the pain was so bad that I had broken ribs and didn't even feel it till I rebroke them a month later during a violent sneeze!

Thanks everyone! Well, good news......the hand is heeling pretty well, I shouldn't need the "pins" they were talking about!
Scary part? (the bad part) when I fell, it gave me 2 open wounds on my hand, and turned out to contract a Staph infection while at the hospital......This inturn, gave me some sort of "heart infection" and they put me on a "home" type IV for Antibiotics! What a boring existence, let me tell ya!
Tomorrow, I see a Cardiologist, for tests to see if it damaged my heart at all......Last week, they had me take a stress test and a Ultrasound, they both came back normal.......So hopefully, tomorrow all goes well, also!
I can say this, I will definitely be more careful the next time around, as I got so much work to do in the shop, and here I am, doing next to "absolutely, nothing!"
Dick, THANKS for posting that! Right after I got off the phone with you last week, (before all this hit) the UPS guy came, with my new computer system!
The following morning, is when the chest pain hit along with serious stomach aches, and the better half, rushed me off to Concord Hospital, again......
All I can say at this point is, I know what heartattack patients feel like.....As they had thought at first, I was having an acute Heartattack! This was from the actual infection I got......with that said, if I had just stayed home "to see" if the chest pain would subside, I wouldn't be here to type this message, as it would have basically poisoned me, from my heart, to the rest as it was infecting the blood at the same time.......over a week at this point with an IV stuck to me is ridiculous, but it saved my life at this point!
