Hey guys,

Sorry I've been m.i.a. the last two weeks, things have been crazy around here. We just found out that our 2 year old son has autism so the last two weeks have been doctor's appointments and scheduling therapies and evaluations and support groups. If you can, please send good vibes/prayers/happy thoughts for our little Rocco and our family as we work on getting him into the early intervention program. He's a sweet and extremely smart little boy and we are doing everything we can to get him into this program and begin getting him (and ourselves) the tools he needs to live a happy and fulfilled life.

With that said, I'm at a point where I need to shift my focus primarily to his needs and care. So this weekend I will work on compiling a list of remaining inventory and will be offering it up one last time at discounted prices in the coming week. If you want to make an offer on the remainder of it as a whole, we can discuss that too. My thanks go out to everyone who has bought stock from me and to all of you for being an awesome group of guys. I won't be disappearing completely but I'm sure you understand my need to get these items sold so that I can focus on my baby boy.

Hello, as I said earlier, "I put a whopper of a prayer on Gods lap concerning your son", and I will continue to send prayers your way. Even after the trains are gone I hope you still visit us from time to time. Many blessings to my favorite Zombie girl and your family!!!

uh, this news need not be thought of as a disappointment...

There are many wonderful things with this discovery.

While not with all autistic children, model trains can be an inspiring entity in the personality.

When I first read the title to this thread, I missed the second "c" in Rocco.

My first thoughts were: Roco's Live Forever! Dependable! Athearn uses a Roco motor in their Genises MP15AC.

T, save one train for Rocco. Grow with us... Keep us updated.
Then let us know through progress when you want to get more trains for Rocco.
Get us to reccommend what Roco locomotive Rocco will really relish with reliability!

I'm gonna start echoeing a statement... I am genuinely serious with my words.

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.
"I love your catenary!"
Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Teresa, sorry to hear this news as you will be facing all sorts of challenges as a family, but hopefully with guidance and the tons of love you'll give him he'll be just fine. It's amazing how trivial everyday concerns and interests become when suddenly faced with life-altering circumstances.

I too was confused by the post title, since as Zeb mentioned Roco is an Austrian model train manufacturer that turns out a high quality product. Little Rocco was well-named.

Thank you guys for your prayers and such.

I'm staying positive about it and taking each day in stride. I'm anxious for the future but hopeful just the same :) He's a good kid and I wouldn't care if he was green and had webbed feet, I would love him for who he is regardless.

I do plan on keeping one set for him, or at least a few cars. He's really into Thomas the Tank Engine right now so I'm looking at buying the set Bachmann makes for him...and maybe the Hogwarts Express for nerdy ol' Mom ;)

I don't think I will ever give up on trains now, I don't think I could if I tried. I've learned so much from you guys over the last few months and I feel like model railroading is a part of me now. Crap.

Either way, I won't leave the forum all together, you guys have all grown on me. I will slow down to take care of other things...as everyone has from time to time...but I'll be lurking around after the sale.

I should have thought about the Roco thing. I actually have a Roco piece made for AHM, which is how I knew about it at all. Rocco was actually named after my grandfather, the man who brought these trains home to begin with...and he definitely was aptly named.

Anyway, thank you all again and I should get everything together by Monday evening.

How is it? I know it's more for show than function but is it worth it? We have the Lego set ups and ideally I would like to run the train with it. How flexible can you get in the track layout?

My experience with autistic children is that they were well loved by their families and appreciated by their teachers.
We'll remember you and Rocco in prayer.

T sorry to hear that. Autism is something I have been living with for almost 5 years also. My Grandson . I hope it isn't a serious case. Very different with every child. From mild to horrable. God bless your baby.

I've got a sister who is 15 right now who was born with Downs Syndrome and later developed Autism. It's not always easy, but it's worth it.
