Has anyone been to this show? http://www.railroadhobbyshow.com/
I hadn't heard of it until Nassau Hobbies let me know that their own show was canceled. I've never been up to this show, though I've been to Springfield once or twice before, so does anyone know how it is?
I'm trying to get in on a bus tour from Long Island to the show and back, and it's $60. I'm wondering if it's worth the day and the money.

Biggest show in the northeast. Asses and elbows all day long. Four buildings full of trains. Everything from manufacturer displays, to used junk boxes. Guys who specialize in vintage stuff and have eBay prices, guys just getting rid of stuff and have good prices.
I've been driving four hours to go to it for about 10 years; always go with a wad of money and a big duffle bag, and fill it right up - this is not a show you go around and look and then decide what to buy; if you like it, buy it then, because odds are unless it's a new item a dealer has in multiple, it will be gone when you come back around - if you can even remember where you saw it in the first place.
There are some really nice layouts, too, the big O-scale modular layout is something else, and another group has an On30 free-mo layout, plus the usual HO, N, S, and Lionel layouts.

| The typical big show I go to sees around 5000 people in two days. I could probably get in to sell here, but I'm afraid I'd come home with nothing left for the next show. Although doing 4 times a typical big show weekend's sales would be nice.

I went, and I'll post pictures when I find the camera I though I brought with me to school. It was entirely worth the $60 I paid to take a group bus from LI there and back, with admission. I'm glad I've got money in the bank for it, though I found I mostly bought Athearns. I tried not burn a hole in my wallet, and to not take everything that I saw interesting. I shudder at how many trains I"d have if I had a full time job. Is this a form of hoarding?
