Aurora's Batmobile, and who would have thought that the original 1960's Batmobile would sell for 4.2 Million dollars. That happened tonight as the Barrett-Jackson Auction offered this car for sale. George Barris, the creator-builder of the Batmobile(s) has owned the car #1 since it's creation. The car's sale price made history tonight with it's sale price as an "expert" told George that it would maybe sell for $200 thousand... The Batmobile is an awesome piece of automotive art and the most recognized TV car ever.... What a great job George done !!

I'd love to have the cars from the Munsters! Loved it when it did show on TV cable channel for old shows and now found it on Netflix!

A poll shows that the original batmobile is more popular than the newer one. 65% said they like the original car best... which usually holds true.

Any recreation of a car, is not quite as cool as the original.... though it may have more features...

I have my brother's HO Batmobile. He must have tried to open up the rear wheel wells for slicks.
No box.
I remember the series and that Mark Wahlberg drove it in a scene in "Rock Star".
The Batmobile was based on a modified Ford show car.

Actually, the car Wahlberg drove was not the original Batmobile... There's quite a few around in museums. Barris claimed he built several cus he didn't want to destroy the origial. IF my memory holds true, Barris only had 15 days, to build the batcar!!

Jerk

Also Barris had the car impounded while taking it for a test drive

The next Bat-mobile built was based upon a 1957 Thunderbird...

Anyone got pictures for the succession of Bat-mobiles?

John

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out.

Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Pics should not be hard to find online. There's this one, (which Barris built several of) and then the latest movie, one.... This 1960s one being far the most popular...
