Here's a score you can "book"!

Got mine as a MIB unsassembled kit from a surprising and unlikely source. I haven't yet illuminated the interior but plan to - I detailed it but it's hard to see. Surprised at all the cast metal detail bits!
Athearn made the cars for Walthers, BTW.

I took some liberties with the assembly; they said to install the windows with the frames on the outside, but since I had an excellent match for the dull yellow they used on the sides, I painted mine and installed them from the inside - to make the appearance a tad more subtle. It seems to work when you see them side by side. Of course, Railbox never rostered any 40' cars... so Lionel's version provides an excellent basis for comparison.

Nice, Tony. Saw one go on ebay a few months ago for 25, didn't have the cash in the account at the time. Oh well. Keep my eye open for them still.
My COTW is solely coal, a Tyco McKeesport Coal dumper. Another toy show pick-up for cheap a few months ago.

My latest Lionel Car. The operating Cop and Hobo car. The cop almost always catches the HOBO. But never does. He doesn't give up tho. I think he knows the Hobo is a good guy. * I got lucky. It is like new. Everything is there, even the clip spring to hold the tower tothe track. It came with a box also. Lionel #0357

operation : you assenble the tower on a piece of snap track, and lock it with the spring. assenmle the car as it is shown in photo. put a man atop the tower. put the other man atop the car as shown. If height on car platform is correct when car passes under tower man on it goes to top of tower and pushes other man on ot top of car.

Sorry to be late to the party! Here's a pair of Tyco Pennsylania streamliners that I won off eBay last week. The one closest to the camera is in good, restorable shape. The second one is questionable but I think is salvageable.
