The billboard whistle that came with my dads chatt 5628 set has been making this noise. It blows air sometimes then if i push the button again it works fine. thing drives me nuts at times. any ideas to cure its problem besides using my 20 pound sledge on it?

As ol' LoopNhook said, if the hammer don't fix it, its electrical! May need disassembling and cleaning. May have a slot car motor or a older Mabuchi can motor job. Never been in one. I suggest adjusting the button first. The springs may be sprung out and at times, not touching at all. If all is good with switch, maybe from the motor to switch or the motor itself.
