Is 24 AWG good for repower projects in HO? I know 22 AWG can be a pain.

24 AWG should be enough. I think some of the older engines used 26, which was way too light really for those higher current-drawing older motors. But 24 will be able to handle most motors needs. You're safe there.

I normally use 24 AWG....Works great and have not had an issue with it!

UNLESS its DCC Then I use the suggested AWG wire for DCC installations.
