I was browsing ebay auctions Australia to find some images of the Aussie rolling stock and came upon this...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121041396060?nma=true&si=T7JfA7jFrc06z%2F851o9bIHawet8%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=true
Doesn't look custom but I didn't see it on Tony's site. Could be a custom job though. Thoughts?
Regards, Dan MacKellar

Looks original. I wonder if SS&P is printed on the box behind it?
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

I highly doubt that is factory original. If it were, that would mark the first and only time Tyco ever put a herald or logo on a steam engine cab*, instead of a number. The cabs on most Tyco steamer were separate parts, deco-stamped with whatever number was assigned to the roadname. I suppose if it were really warranted they *could* have used a logo, but that seems highly unlikely, and the SP&S seems a bit too intricate to have done as a one-off or test unit. If anything I expect it's a decal.
It's still an attractive looking engine, though.
*The 4-6-2 Pacific in Southern Crescent paint has a small crescent moon on the cab, but this is a very simple decorative element, a far cry from an intricate herald.

I agree it's clearly custom, from the more obscure roadname to the graphite smokebox. The lettering also looks too fine for Tyco tampo (aka big-ass rubber stamp) printing.

Interesting piece of information. You really know your train stuff. I guess I was thinking more like an Athearn would be.
