Hey Guys:
Does anyone else on the forum have any cast metal Locomotives like the Hobbytown RS-3? Or Bowser FM H16-44? I also have a Cary S-2/4 Shell and an Athearn chassis for it. Just looking to see. There's something about metal locomotives they just seem so much less toy like I guess. My RS-3 must weight 1 1/2lbs.
Riight now I have to figure out how to get the shell off the HT RS-3 I bought. It's not a runner and I need to have a look at the motor to see if it needs service or replacememnt. I also noticed that long hood is a little crooked. Where the hood meets the cab it's offset about a 1/16". I'll have to seperate the two and realign and rejoin. Anyone know if these models shells are usually glued or soldered or pressed together and then screwed down.
Cheers, Gareth

Hey Gareth;
Super glue usually works
Cary Shells are still being made by Bowser. http://bowser-trains.com/hoother/cary/cary.htm They have PDF files posted on how to.... drill, tap, GLUE and paint diecast. Lots of detail parts are still being made! We have and love a few diecast locos and cars. Diecast can't be beat by plastic! They also mention Hobbytown (of Boston) was sold to Bear Locomotive Works 1361 Tuckerton Ave Whiting NJ 08759

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
