The reason for the unusual start date is because of there not being a Set of the Week for December 30th to January 4th, and that week is almost over. I thought for this, I would share a train set I got in Christmas 2010, when I really began to make my layout a more "permanent" one. I hope one like this counts, as it's a much newer Life-Like train set, but it still has that "classic HO" look and feel to it...
This isn't just a renaming of their older "(Super) Power Charger" train set. The figure-8 Power-Loc track actually features a 90-degree crossing instead of the usual bridge/trestle setup, which I actually don't mind (keeps the whole thing at level!) It does also include their stock pen, operating dual crossing gates, Snap-Loc train station building kit, along with some (unpainted) figures, vehicles, trees, signs and utility poles. It's enough to help put a good start on a model railroad! I do have some pics from when I originally set it up on Christmas day 2010:
I also set up the figure-8 with some additional track from the Power-Loc track expander set to make a couple of sidings, and also used some more buildings and accessories I had. The grass mat and lichen there was new and I also installed it onto the plywood I put the train set on.
The lead locomotive. I have since installed AccuMate knuckle couplers on it (as it surprisingly came with horn-hook couplers!)
 Included stock pen...
 Railroad crossing
 Train station building kit.

Not to mention, that was back in late 2010. Today, that layout now looks like THIS:

Nice, Ken. That's a 60's set with metal wheels and a Bowker with brass details.

Me And My Aero...
Nice.
John
Here's a set of funny trains... okay, they're real pictures... except for Pearls... Let me know if you don't get the picture...s.
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Not sure if you noticed: "...S Scale..." The artist is from the UK. That is what surprised me. Out of five most produced scales, "N" and "HO" are not mentioned! And, "S Scale"!? Wow!
