Went to my favorite train store with my christmas money, left with 2 new engines, 1 coach, 5 packs of ballast, 11 pieces of track, and some ZAP! The 2 locos I got were a Mantua Great Northern 0-6-0 and a Rare Roundhouse John Deere EMD-40 critter!! I planned to purchase them and I did! Both run great!! The critter is my new shop goat now
gotta love slopebakers
here's my new love!

Nice JD critter! I have a couple critters, both black, one is already DCC'ed and I have run it at my club shows, although switches give it fits due to lack of length to get across the frogs. I have to push it constantly through switches, I need to make a small gon or flat with contacts so I it will keep moving. Anyway, some nice mini motive power you got there, SCVR66.
NOTE - if you decided to DCC your Critter, BEWARE! the diodes for the LEDS were installed reversed at the factory, if you don't reverse the 4, and try to use the DCC Decoder to operate the LEDs, you'll fry the decoder. I don't think it matters for strictly DC operation, as the LEDs will operate in reverse operation maybe ( front is on when in reverse, etc. ), but with the Decoder installed it will cause havoc with it. just a heads up....

The critter is cool! BUT I personally like the other posting with the Mantua 2-6-6-2 in it.......That be my favorite of all of them at this point, BUT, I do LOVE articulated steam so..........
I plan to remodel one I have into a B&O 0-6-6-0, "Old Maude" Class DD-1 #7000 when I have the time and all the brass detail parts I need for it.....Was America's first articulated steam locomotive!
