Is your main rod getting stuck on a side rod pin and the piston being poped out of its slide?

Phillip,
Whats happening is that Bachmann in the early years used "pins" as side rod bolts as the rest of the model steam loco community used and they work them self loose with the movement. You can do the following, tap for a 0-80 thread machine screw with a hex head, OR try to add some light weight super glue to the end of the pin to hold it in place, NOT much tho, as if you ever want to remove it for maintenance, it will be difficult to do so.....

IF you wonder, light weight super glue, the cheap stuff, as you want that pin to remain freeable from the driver without breaking the driver.

I'd actually go the route of adding a 0-80 thread machine screw and NOT over tighten it, as that always seems to be the best choice.....BE sure to see if you need a bushing to keep the screw centered in the hole in the rod itself.....

Many have tried to, and failed, ya just can't repair stupid...

I say use a screw if you're good at steamer work. If not, do what Bob says.
