I have found a company that makes worm gears and other gears. How can one by made by use of a lathe/ Anybody ever make a brass worm/flywheel style worm?

I've made a combination flywheel/worm gear. It was for a tender drive 2-8-0. Machined it from delrin on a lathe. It takes a special lathe. I don't own the type of lathe for that.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.
