This little red guy is a new favorite of mine, as I stayed at the Red Caboose Motel in PA a few years ago. They need to get rid of the mice, though, and fix the hot water. Anyway, missing a truck but easily fixable.

My latest finds at a train show in Raleigh, NC this past weekend:

I didn't have the U. S. Navy car, and my other Spreckels Sugar car is roofless. it also is missing the writing on the extreme right panel. Now all I need are the C&O and DT&I cars!

Excellent red caboose. Purchased this last week. A little dusty in the image, but a nicely done, DT&I Tyco caboose.

Yes it is. I belonged to it a few years back. I purchased the two club cars when they were offered. I'm not sure if the club still has any left for sale though.

This was a custom possibly one of a kind item purchased on ebay. It arrived in a Tyco brown box with a label over the printed Silver Streak 327-60 end.

I LOVE the looks of that DTI caboose! Let me know if you ever decide you might want to part with it. Here are a couple of others I like:
Athearn custom DTI GP-38:

Athearn DTI GP040 that matches your caboose (although the caboose looks WAY better with the black roof).

The DTI operated between 1905 and 1983. It stands for Detroit, Toledo and Ironton. Ironton, OH, is about 30 minutes northwest of where I live. The part of the track between Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and Ironton was abandoned in 1982 due to a tunnel collapse.
Additionally, it's hilarious that from 1955 onward it only purchased GM locomotives, as it was owned by Henry Ford from 1920 to 1929. It operated from 1929 to 1970 as an independent subsidiary of the PRR. From 1980 until its demise it was a subsidiary of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad. It also was plagued with problems during its entire lifetime of over 100 years - even the railroads that turned into it had been bankrupt multiple times.
Couple of pictures of logos and real-life stock:

This is notably the actual item that the GP-38 above was modeled from:

Also of note - compare the location of the DTI logo, especially top to bottom. The logo placement was fairly haphazard on real-life rolling stock.

Neat info Tyco Nut. Will be stripping and repainting a Tyco C-430 to match the #228 which should look good with the caboose. Just received the decals for it, Microscale 87-1315.

That bright royal blue is really gorgeous. I like the newer logo, but the middle logo with the compass is pretty too! Please post pictures when you get it done - we'd love to see it!

Thanks Tyco Nut. It appears to be nearly perfect. I find it interesting that it has sticker heralds.
