A great little Euro find was this Fleischmann steam engine, the rods on the other side are all bunched up, and missing a mounting screw to the driver wheel. But other than that, it looks awesome, and in great shape otherwise. It also is DCC'ed already, a bonus. My Euro collection continues to grow....

Interesting model. They had some complicated valve gear arrangements.

Yeah, I am. I'm just going to find away to better attach the fuel tank and air reservoirs on the bottom, along with getting a rail guard for the front and putting horns on top. It runs too!

You guy's gonna love this one!! a Rare 1960 Gilbert Jackshaft switcher!! WEnt to my favorite train store for scenery supplies for my new layout over the weekend and doing my usual go throughs of their used selection I found it for $15! Had a bent rod and all the brass was filthy, removed the rods, sraightened them, cleaned the wheels very well and the screws, rods, brass headlights, and bell all in a day! It needs a lot of mehcanical work but that's next. It is being restored for use as a shop goat for my Seybold Locomotive Works. you can watch the entire restoration in depth on my facebook group, you have to join and or be a member to view this album http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.448254845211972&type=1#!/media/set/?set=oa.448254845211972&type=1

Well i straightened the rods so it don't need em but the rod is different in that of a Mantua shifter, the holes are bigger on the switchers rod.

It was a basket case. I had to remount the coupler pockets, repair the pilot steps and put new gears in it. I still need to fix the rear steps nd maybe repaint it but it runs really nice for what I have in it.

I picked these up on ebay as slight basket cases. Repaired the people in the windows and got the motor up and running from it's rusted state. Not a loco but close enough.

Hyde ; They do run OK if not damaged. Vertical shaft, old style motor. The weekness in the motor is the comunator disk. Very rairly do you find one that was run alot. They seem to have been conversation pieccs. frank

You know, I got to thinking of this posting, have you run it yet? I have seen them, never had one but aquiring minds want to know how they run? I know they're small but, do they pull well?
I got 4 of them by Rivarossi, and they pull "OK" for their size, BUT, I'm not sure the IHC model like you have, has more weight in it.....
Sure does look good tho......Specially with all the valve gear rods on it!

John, I would say they have about the same weight. The issue I had with it is the stock 14/1 gear ratio. I changed the 14 tooth axle gear to a 20 tooth gear and shimmed the front of the motor up to make the gears mesh properly. It's hard to compare the two since I already modified this one. This one doesn't waddle as bad as most of the Rivarossi and Life/Like ones do.

That's interesting. I was told by several people they waddled worse. My Rossi's don't really waddle at all.

Ray, I have to agree with Nelson, I have 4 of the Rossi's, and only one of them waddles......And I think I know what is causing it, just got way to much to be done in the shop to rectify it.....BUT, once I have the time, winter is coming so.....

Okay cause I really want one so I'll have to be careful. I also want one of the Aristocraft 2-4-2s, like the blue one in the back ground behind the mantua 4-6-0, although there are to many in the photo I more want the red version though.

That is interesting. Maybe I found a good one, or maybe requartering the drivers had something to do with it. I have a couple of the Rivarossi Docksides that do run great and a few that don't. I have yet to find a Life Like that doesn't waddle but I am working on a couple of those. (they just aren't done yet)
