I haven't seen anyone talk about these yet. Has anyone ever built a Bowser freight car kit?
The last purchase I made with my recycle money at Trainland was a Bowser N-8 caboose painted for the PRR. I thought I prefered the N5(c) but I find I like the proportions of this caboose more. Looks like the longer wheelbase would give the crew a better ride, and the larger porches would be practical. I'd love to live in one like that, but I digress.
I'm quite amazed with the quality 'feell' of the kit. The plastic feel liek it's of a nice quality; no see-through spots or really any flash even on the spur-bars. The paint is crisp, the parts are well detailed, and the kit looks realatively simple to assemble. I really really like the kit
When get my bottle money together, I think I want to buy another, because at $10. each that's a steal. They only have Keystone, Plain, Chessie or Buckeye region, but I'd be interested in a Penn Central one (I like the color, not so much the line). I mourn the loss of Athearn Blue box, but if this is what Bowser makes... I think I know where my money's going.
Anyone have thoughts on these splendid kits?

I picked up a few of them a couple years ago for $5 apiece at a small train show. Couldn't pass them up at that price. I haven't built them yet, but I have to agree about the quality of the plastic and molding color. They are a nice substitute for blue box kits, but of course they're Pennsy-centric.

| W built the on in your picture. It did not run as well as the Athearn BB ones as built. It required a little more weight an the axles to be tweaked. That said when all was done it was a nice car. All of the glass was included also. I have a set of 6 of their hoppers. Those all ran very well and were weighted well out of the box. I have to say though that I do prefer the BB kits to these. The Bowsers are better detailed with the included parts but not as consistent with the performance out of the box. This said I prefer to add details and not have to tweek it. If you do not mind tweeking the kit to run better then this is a better buy.

Quite surprising to me that they are made in the US (wait, we make things here?)
Were the Blue Box kits made in California? I know Athearn is exclusively Chinese now
