Hi everyone,

So there are two toys I had as a child that I cannot find. Well, there's a third but I don't have pictures yet. These are not HO items at ALL but you are the most helpful bunch of people I have ever met.

The first is a gold drag racer type of thing - maybe 8-12" long or so. I almost positively remember that I got it at KMart in the early 70s but I am not 100%. You would thread this T handle in - it had teeth on the long part - and they threaded through an opening. When you pulled, the teeth engaged teeth on the side of the center wheel - pull FAST - sparks shoot out - there was a flint that rubbed - and WHOOOOO - set 'er down and watch 'er go! Fun for jumping off things, scaring the dog as it chased him, or whatever. I cannot find it on a search on eBay but maybe you know of it?

The other thing is an orange bear named "Fuzzbee" (not sure of the spelling). May have been purchased at Montgomery Wards in the late 60s or early 70s. He had a "baseball" style cap that was four colors plus the bill. You pulled a string and he said things. I'd know him if I saw him.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!
Rus

You're remembering Kenner's SSP cars, which had a large flywheel in the center with a rubber tire. I had their Smash-up Derby set in the early 70's. They must have added a sparking feature later... I have a vague memory of commercials for it.

I have no idea about the bear.

Hi Tyco Nut,

Yep, NickelPlate759 nailed the SSP's. I had these in the early 70's also without sparks. We had a very long hallway in our house that made for a perfect smash up arena.

The SSP's also came witha ramp for jumps and crash-up derby. They made a come back around 2001 because I got some for my boys. The worst thing about the SSP's were the rip cord would always brake in half.

Okay - now I'm going to spend too much money because while I'm searching for the right one (these seem to be the right thing) - I found an ad for the 1971 Arco Noah's Ark which I also remember from being a kid - and we'd go EVERY WEEK to get the new toy. Progress pending.

Anyone find anything on Fuzzbee?

Off to probably spend too much money....

Looks like it might have been a Rail Bird - but it was GOLD. Were there knock-offs of these?

This looks right - but I REMEMBER it shot sparks. Do they all shoot sparks?

Golden Rail Bird seems to be the right one - IF it shoots sparks. I remember that distinctly.
