Please post your Mantua or Tyco only 5628 GP20 or other Tyco GP20 numbers and font variations here. I thought this GP20 font was unique because the road number on the cab is so thin and looks as if it is engraved so that you can feel the impressions in the cab sides. Also this early font style is thinner than more modern ones and it's color is a different intensity than the road name and stripes. It looks like some form of a roman or gothic font.

Thanks Caboose1. Your numbers are a different and thicker font than mine and that's what I'm after in this thread. Also your font has a different line quality where it is thicker then thinner, where mine is the same thickness throughout the number. I think we'll see an bunch of different fonts on the Mantua Tyco GP20. I think BriansTyco did a thread on the C430 fonts.

My GP20 is a 1962 Mantua EX Rio Grande Kit version!! The guy I bought from in 2007 on ebay purchased it new in 1962 as a kit and built it! I since painted over the lettering and willl repaint the entire sides of it, BUT I still want to keep the tiger stripes.

I only have the SD24 Rio Grande. Nice vintage example of that model '62 and the font it had similar or the same as Caboose1's. Thanks.

No problem! The lettering was really small when it had it.

Here are my two examples. I don't know if they're unique, but they're different from each other.

Dacheez, I have wanted a CN GP for a while. You have a nice example and PT powered. I have several CN Alcos one PT one MU2. Thanks for your contribution and it is another variation of the 5628 font being thinner and maybe in a different position on the cab.

I found that geep at a show about 5 years ago...I don't think I've seen another one in CN paint since. The CN alcos seem quite scarce as well. NOW the F9's...that's a different story

I'd also like to know why they used yellow horns on other units, but black ones on these... They should'a used black ones on all the units

From a rare shell, according to spiderj, this font is a different font than the ones posted so far. It is most similar but not exactly the same as the NYC Geeps.

Ray, Thanks. You can see that those are different as to the thickness and the style of the font is slightly different too.The bottom of the five, and six are rounder and bigger on the ICG when compared to the IC and the two is bigger and rounder on top. I'm not a rivet counter but I notice differences like this easily
