I have a idea I wanna try and need opinions. I wanna re truck some of my truck-less Tyco cars and add body mounted Kadee's. Any, I wanna fill the old bolster hole up with JB Weld, the tap it for a 2-56 screw. I've been told JB Weld could be made into a block, be drilled and tapped and will hold!

One other idea was to make custom bolster beam assembly and grind the old ones away. Somebody I know has have luck heating the area and melting some plastic to support a 2-56 nut or he would use a Athearn frame section and remove some of the molded in Tyco frame.

All three of your ideas would work just fine - I have seen all three used with equal success.

Guys,
I use good ole fashion Epoxy from Wal-Mart, 60 second stuff, let it set for an hour, and then drill it with a #50 drill (.070") drill bit, tap for 2-56, and use an 1/8th inch rod for a shoulder on the bolt and slip the screw through it, then slip through the truck (Athearn alot of times) and then tighten it down!

Works every time! So, I know your idea will work Justin!

I have used Plastruct brand tubing to fill the hole instead of rod. Then you've already got the hole perfectly centered. I tried rod or filling the hole, but it's a bear trying to drill a hole exactly in the center.
