I do want a BQ23-7. How close is Bachmann's shell measure to the real deal? Also, could it ever be adpated to a Atlas B23-7 chassis?

Justin,
GOOD LUCK! I recently found one on my anniversery but they are difficult to come by!

As for these, if it were me, I'd use an Athearn UboatB frame, much more workable to the shell!

Have you seen the CSX one I painted ? and the new one I just got?

Speaking of Atlas, I'd like to find another one, to detriment! I want to cut the cab off the shell to mold it so that it can be used on other B23-7 shells, for instance, Atlas!

As for scale size, the Bachmann is close. But its Bachmann so its not 100% but I bet its atleast 90% and thats not something I'm just taking a stab at... it is really that CLOSE!!!! And I might add it fits a Athearn frame, NICELY!

EDIT: I NEED to learn how to TYPE badly! LOL

It would be nice if a conversion could be made for a Atlas B23-7.

Believe me....I get one more shell, I plan to hack it up to make a mold of the cab! So, then there will be conversions made!

Not THAT rare. Brass they're about $800, in regular stuff we see they are about $20-50.

Well I guess that depends on how you look at them being rare.....I have looked for these for 10 years and have found 3, total. locally found one out of the 3, 2 online. That well, I'd pay for that the person was asking for them.....Sadly enough, I won't pay $30 for it, so nevermind $50! Specially considering the work involved to make them from a factory unit (I'm merely buying them, for the shell only!)

I had a couple of essentially new in the box ones over the summer; they went on eBay for $30. I sometimes see them for less at shows - they're not common but with a little patience they turn up fairly regular.

lvrr,
I'd LOVE to see Bachmann Spectrum re-introduce these to the market with the detail updated along with the drive as well! AND painted correctly, in ALL the paint that these were in under Seaboard AND CSX!

Wishful thinking again!
