This is the repaired frame for the Mantua Mikado I got at the show.
The original bottom frame piece was broken due to zinc pest.
The bottom plate on these included the front of the frame that the cylinder and pilot bolt to.
I decided to make the replacement in 2 pieces. The front frame piece was milled from a piece of 1/4"x 1/2" extruded aluminum and the bottom plate was made from a 1/16"x1/2 brass strap.

Ray,
NICE mill work! did you do it yourself?

As for the plates, I've done that more then once for more reason then just zink rot!

That last picture looks like it will be a GREAT rebuilt frame! Nice, clean work!

Very nice piece of surgery, Ray. I have an early Pacific with a touch of zinc pest that made it too long to fit the boiler. It cracked in the axle slots for the center drivers, making a repair difficult. At least the gearbox and bottom plate hold it together.
