My Pacific Fruit Express reefer has PEE reporting marks. Is that normal?

I thought it should be PFE. I've had this car for over 35 years and never noticed PEE until a couple days ago. Has anyone else ever seen this? Is it rare?

That's what I thought! Sounds like something I would want to do, but wouldn't have the nerve!

Too funny Glenn! I can see alot of crazy things happening in those factories, specially back in the day...... And then to go on, to this day, and get unnoticed.....

Just, priceless!

Today, at an antique mall in Mooresville NC I found a second example of a Tyco Pacific Fruit Express reefer with PEE reporting marks! Here's a pic of the two of them side by side. I hope the focus is good enough to read both cars:

It seems the later Tyco brown box versions were possibly all like this. The earlier versions with the diecast bottoms stamped Mantua seemed to have gotten it right. All of the ones I have or have seen follow this pattern. That's just been my experience. Haven't attempted to dive into it.

I did some surfing on the 'net and what pics I could find showed PFE marks. Not likely to have all been diecast bottomed cars, but I could be wrong. And I don't think I've seen any others in person that I could examine. I do know I will be paying attention from now on.
