Ken it is easy to be a D&H fan. Their locomotives for each class were massive. They were a company always ready to try any new improvement to get higher horse power, and higher traction out of each class of locomotive they had.

Ken,

I found that website a year or so ago. Simply incredible! I wish I had half his skill! I saved the photo of his backhead for my reference. I think that is how I initially found his site. I have a bunch of castings and interior steam cab details that I plan to use someday and was just curious how one should look. Awesome! Nice re-posting of it!

I have always thought that little pipe that juts up, sometime molded to the smokestack, was for a bit of moisture to keep down the amount of ash coming out.

A steam generator... not to produce steam, but to use the boiler steam to run a... turbine?!?
Was there an alternator to regulate voltage to different lights or ?
