I have found a Gilbert ho Osgood Bradley car,am after the method used in separating top from chassis,as who ever stripped it left a lot of stripper on it and needs to be removed before it does to much damage, due to amount of stripper not sure if riveted or screwed together cheers ken

IIRC they're riveted, but even if not you can knock the heads off with a Dremel and a grinding head of some sort and superglue the shell back on later.

Ken,
IF the rivets are big enough, grind them off as lvrr said, and if the diameter is big enough, you can drill a shallow hole in the center of the rivet and then tap it, (This is a technique) can be used ONLY if the "rivet" is a molded on type, like a lug mount, that mushrooms over at theend to create a rivet.

Let me know as I can walk you through it its actually pretty easy, BUT with you being across the big pond, you will probably be using metric screws, an M-2 or smaller. OR if my machine skills don't evade me, the equivelant to a 2-56 thread screw tap size to your metric screws available!

Ken, they often used rivets that were knurled pins which can be pulled out, as opposed to peened over eyelet types. If they are the former, you shouldn't have to grind them off.

hi guys the rivets at one time or another had what i would say looked like a Phillips style rivet,ie a cross head, that a tool would force outwards, creating a lip,but as i said one time or another,so looks like whats left will be ground off thanks anyway guys ken

Ken, they're just white metal posts, so grind away. I think the brass brads came later on the plastic cabeese.
