When was the model made, Ken? Very nice.
I guess at the speeds they traveled in 1832 a lead truck wasn't necessary, still it looks like those big drivers could just climb off the rails. Probably the days before equalization, tho.

* Ken is that a latter version of the locomotive? Back then, 1832, there were no cabs on the locomotives. frank

frank it was made in 1832 and given the r/n number 1832, http://trackman.com/ho/ /tyco/forum/uploaded/catfordken/20120611075303_pr1832.jpg cannot find anything about cab being added ken real train was made in uk,the model by choo choo stop,no idea of date model made, but only 200 were produced /tyco/forum/uploaded/catfordken/20120611080155_pr2.JPG This is a LIMITED EDITION #105 of 200 made with a plaque on the bottom of the model stating such. The prototype ran along the Skukyl River in Philadelphia PA in 1832 and had to carry its wood supply in the cab, so I'm sure it didn't travel too far. The prototype also had internal connecting drive rods which is why you don't see any drive rods on this model. The model is geared internally and runs perfectly smooth and silent, forward or backward and is perfectly fluid at any speed. The front light and cab are factory lighted and is powered by a small can motor. There is no wear on the drive wheels and just some light tarnish on the smoke stack. The model was made in Korea and imported by the Choo Choo Stop another odd one 0-4-4-0 /tyco/forum/uploaded/catfordken/20120611130856_prr_reuben_wells.jpg

Wow, if those driver spokes were made to scale, they'd snap like toothpicks. Actually, toothpicks would be stronger.
Here's the Wikipedia page for the Reuben Wells. Never heard of it before.

* The photo of the Loco and model Catawissa, are how they were operated on the Little Schuylkill Railway. It ,the Catawissa, and the Comet, were built by Edward Burry of Liverpool, England. They were built to current English locomotive construction practices. The cab, stack, pilot, and sandbox were added in later years, by the Little Shuylkill for operation in America. toptrain

The catawissa was a Little Schuylkill loco. The LSRR was leased to the P&R in 1863. Then was sold by the Philadelphia and Reading to the American dredging compnay in 1871. That is all I see on the engine. * Here is a history of Schuylkill county. http://books.google.com/books?id=fycUAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA92&dq=Little+Schuylkill+railroad&hl=en&sa=X&ei=A1vXT8rvIcfm0QHbrYHCAw&sqi=2&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=Little%20Schuylkill%20railroad&f=false frank
