Hey Guys:
I have a RI PT Shark I'm about to give to a buddy for his kid to "Start" with. Here's the thing. It seems to run ok (power leads to wheels NOT on track) , but the plastic wheels on the front truck/left side (looking down loco inverted) appear to be grooved. This suggests that it was originally equipped with traction tires.
Can someone confirm???
Thanks, Gareth

Yes Gareth, they are for traction tires. Calumet makes these tires still.

Thanks Justin:
Are they usually glued on?
I'm gonna see about buying an Athearn beater geared chassis from Nelson which is where they all go to die his place and mount the Shark shell on that.... then give it to that kid or one of the Athearn F7's...
Hey did I ask you if you want that shark included with the motor's you want?

Hi Bryan, where can I find your video on maintenance? Tried googling "bryanstyco", but only results were this site. I did find a maintenance video for an Alco on YouTube, and the gentleman explains replacing the traction tires but in his case, he's been able to remove the wheels, making the task of slipping the tires on a bit easier.
On my Tyco SF Alco, it has those blasted rivets holding the motorized truck together. On a couple of the other posts on maintenance, I noticed people talking about drilling them out an replacing with screws, but ugh... that's more work than I want to do today.
Using tiny screwdrivers I've tried to put new Calumet #505 tires on the naked nylons, but between my big fingers, old eyes and the plastic guards around the wheels I've not had much success! Any recommendations?
Thanks!

| Ah, then indeed his is the video I watched -- Bryan, it's excellent, a fantastic tutorial and much appreciated, but alas the trucks have rivets to hold them together so I can't get the wheels out to put the tires on. Hmmmmm.
