A friend of mine ( formerly my wife's, but I stole him, we have much in common, heh heh! ) lives up in PA, and as a second job drives a lunch truck, and services the Pureland Industrial park in Bridgeport, New Jersey. They have a small industrial railroad there, 6.5 miles of track, and apparently you can sign a waiver and get a cab ride in their diesel engines! So my friend had made friends with the supervisor at SMS there, and has gotten us both a ride on Sunday June 10th. I plan to take my video camera and still camera and get some fun footage. Apparently on Sundays they pick up empties on the sidings, and move them all to the yard for pick-up by the major carriers ( CSX , NS, and CP ) that intersect in the Philadelphia area. Pretty neat operation! Can't wait to see it. Anyone else ever visited SMS' Pureland facilities and / or ridden the engine at all? If you're interested, here's the website to visit -

http://www.smsrail.com/locations-pa-nj-sms-rail.html

This should be fun, riding in an engine cab, seeing one in operation from up front, instead of a passenger or tourist car.

I've been meaning to get down there. They were featured in Trains magazine last year, but I've known about them for some time. They really have a thing for Baldwins.

See if they'll let you blow the horn.

Ohh I'd still want one and that'd be cool to see someone model this scene! If I had this scene I'd probably actually try to restore the steamer :p

That is so cool with her sitting on those trucks talgo style. Maybe they're making her into a Garrett?

Here she is on the NH&I dead line back in 2007.
