i decided that it was best to send my mdc weyerhaueser #9 0-6-0T back home to oregon. I aquired the 0-6-0T at a train show in anaheim back in january. I got it from a nice guy named Donald E matry. A good friend who i've bought manyy different engines from over the years. when i got it the loco ran awful so i went through the entire engine cleaned it lubricated it and cared for it. It started to run like a champ but then i decided it needed a cosmetic overhaul too. I turned it from basically an all silver engine to an all black engine. Painting the rods, wheel faces, and frame black, oh and smokebox door. I was in the middle of reassembling it when i forgot which side of the wheels was the current side. the motor continuously shorted till i seperatly applied power to the motor then it ran great. Realizing i had a wire/pickup plate problem i tried fixing it but i wasn't making any progress. Frustrated by 5 months of work on this engine i decided not to finish the repairs. Since day 1 of this engines arrival i've had to work on it. I knew it'd be a one less thing to worry about and more headaches avoided. I emailed the friendly former owner (donald) a week ago and i haven't heard back from him. I'll call him later this week to work out a deal. He had said that if im ever not satisfied by this engine just send it back and i'll swap it with an eninge of equal value. Hopefully we can work out a deal so that i can get the southern mantua pony i wanted from him. First i have to get in contact with him. If by some unlikely consequence i cant send it back to him i'll sell it on ebay. Its sad to see one of my engines go, i doubt it'll find a better home then mine because of the wiring trouble plus i live to work on ho steamers i enjoy working on them but this 0-6-0T was just frustrating!
here's #9 showing her worn paint side
here's #9 reassembled but not in running order

I hear ya Hyde. Sad to see it leave your shop. I'll keep my eyes pealed for it on eBay or if ya decide to sell it yourself. I love steamers myself.

| Probably has a driver reversed, shouldn't be that hard to fix.
