Just aquired in a trade!

This is a partially completed ready to run HO scale model of an 0-4-2 steam switcher that has been re-motored with a Northwest Short Line gear drive and a Sagami can motor with flywheel, and 1/4"X 1/8" ball bearings on the drive axles.
This engine has the motor isolated from the chassis, and has plenty of room in the cab for a decoder and sound in the tender. There are screws in the frame and tender for wire connections, so it is easily DCC adaptable. The chassis has been precision machined to mount the can motor and gear drive, and machined to accept Kadee coupler boxes.
The tender is an MDC 28' Vanderbuilt style with sprung cast metal Andrews trucks.
The engine has a vintage Kemtron cast brass all weather cab installed, and a Kemtron tube type pilot. The engine runs smooth and quiet, and has Kadee couplers, mounted in plastic draft gear boxes to electrically isolate them. The Third photo shows a close-up of the chassis with the boiler removed, and the re-motored drive with can motor and flywheel.Â
The unit has been broken in on stationary rollers to ensure smooth operation. This engine and tender combination weighs over a pound, so it has a lot of tractive power for a small unit.
In reality this engine will be parted out. Chassis/Running gear for one project; Cab another; tender another, trailing truck another. All to serve a greater good. It will however leave me with an orphaned Booster Boiier but that can't be helped.

My LOTW kind of follows in the same theme of Gareth's. Both have Kemtron cabs and MDC semi-vanderbuilt tenders. However, insead of a Mantua switcher with a all weather vestibule cab, it is a Varney lil Joe cab forward:

For all intents and purposes, this one was a steal too!

DAMN IT! Thats a NICE one Ken! (I ain't cursing at you, I'm cusing at the fact you got a NICE B&M loco, that was actually bought by the B&O once the B&M dieselized! (sadly tho, that model you got is thee only one that the B&O did not buy, as it had the big centapede tender!)
HOWEVER, it could be made into a REALLY NICE B&O T-4, with a tender swap, as I have the correct B&M tender that the B&O had on those they bought.
Alittle history? The B&M class 4-8-2, was a good and HEAVY 4-8-2, actually, if I'm not mistaken thee heaviest one EVER built.....WELL when they dieselized, the B&O liked them and purchased all of them, but one. And classed them in the T-4 class!
The only one that the B&O did not buy in I believe was 1947, is the one you have pictures Ken, posted above for the mere fact of the 14 wheeled "Centapede" tender and was to big for the B&O lines in weight! Even with the 14 wheels 7 axles that it had carrying it under a full load of coal and water!

My contribution this week is an RSO 0-4-0, don't know much about the model either scale or 1:1, but a cute little guy I bought in an Ebay lot awhile back.

Mine this week is an American Flyer 0-6-0 switcher. I got this in a collection I bought a few months ago. It sat on a display shelf most of its life. After a thorough cleaning it runs great. All I can say is it's a tank. All cast even the tender and it pulls really good too and smokes like a fiend.

Well I got another here too, also just got back after a friend rebuilt this for me. Got it in a collection a few months ago. It is a 4-8-2 Sammomga Brass locomotive. Sat all its life on a display shelf, never ran and did not run when I got it. Now it runs smooth and quiet but my 18 degree turns on my layout wont work, but wont be a problem when I rebuild next winter.
