I'm desperatly trying to find a parts supplier 0-4-0 on ebay for my mantua 0-4-0 shifter project, all it needs, is the wheels and rods but i'm looking at a whole engine on ebay. It's a rough booster that has definatly seen better days, the running gear looks okay compared to the rest of it. Will a boosters running gear work with my mantua shifter?
here it is, like i said rough but the running gear looks decent enough to clean and repair for my shifter
Please help!

I buy, repair, and collect

That could be cleaned up and run again. Any tank engine or any 0-4-0, 2-6-2, or 0-6-0 will work. I'll see if I have some drivers/rod combos left.

Any shifter & Booster running gear parts are all interchangeable. Only the chassis & contact brush are different.

I have a very good running booster listed now on eBay for $10 and if it sells for that I'll be happy.

Remember I'm rebuilding a shifter! Not a booster I already got a nice SP version, I bailed on this engine because looking at the close up shots the seller had I didn't see the the brass rod spacer the goes in between the main rod and drive rod so I'm out of luck till next week cause all parts engines sold for wayyy to high! I bid on 3 in the last week and all have gone up to $20!!! That's ridiculous, I'm sticking to eBay sorry guys, I want an entire engine so I canhave spares of everything.
Are your 0-4-0s on eBay a great northern booster and a newer version booster?

SCVR66,
I can tell ya, ALL of these I have are pretty much in mint shape, in parts and pieces, BUT stock numbered well and if you want a complete one of either of these, let me know, I'll toss the nthing together as a brand new one, and it won't be missing anything, nor will it look like that pictured above! $10.00 baged parts, complete. $15.00 assembled.

Either way will be boxed well for shipping.

I am not sure if I understand. If all you are looking for is complete & good drive gear parts, the Booster & Shifter are identical here. If you think $20 is too much to spend, I think, you will be hard pressed to find a complete functioning Switcher for much less, especially after you throw in shipping. However a Booster can be had for less than $10 on a regular basis. Boosters are also lighter and cheaper to ship.

When I assembled my '69 Fastback Mustang, I purchased 8 parts cars. Seven of them were coupes and only one was a fastback. The fastbacks are worth nearly twice as much as the coupe, so why spend more when all the parts I needed were on the cheaper unit?

OK, what differance would it make Ebay or someone on here? I actually have more Shifter parts then Booster parts, so......

You looking for the plastic Shifter boiler, or the all metal Shifter boiler?

Remember I'm looking for a parts supplier not a running engine, I look for untested units or ones that are stated for repair. My dads more comfortable on eBay then here and I agree, I appreciate the help but its taken care of. A booster is an absolute last resort for a parts supplier, I'm using the parts loco I buy to finish my shifter project, I'd like every part to be from a shifter except for the cab which came from a tyco clementine #5. other that it'll be all shifter, people Pay to much for shifters that don't run I'd know. I've lost 3 bids already and all have gone to $20 for a non running one which is ridiculous! Running ones barely get over $18
