I wanna build a 4'X8" layout that will fold. It'll be a figure 8 layout and using a roadbed. Anyways, what can I do trackwise to prevent any kinks or un-eveness?

I think Brianstyco had a layout where parts of it was able to fold, such as parts of the track was hinged.I thought he had a way to do something to the track. Any ideas Brian I cant remember what you had done to your layout.

I think you'll have to have some framework to hold it at 90 degrees, obviously. You can have some sort of interlocking framework so that it stays on a level stance. As far as track, you can do like the Modular crowd, and have two pieces with some ties removed to slide in and out easily in the area where it's split. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

Yes - i had a layout with a hinged access - I used flex track and two 9 inch straights as i had double track. On the hinged side was notched out on stationary side to allow tracks to fold when raised without binding - you have to notch or track will rip off ties when you raise

Brian, how hard is to remove or install a piece of sectional track to a piece of stationary track? I may have the crossing and the 4 short straights become removable and keep the roadbed intsalled. How does your system work?
