Just received this golden Eagle 630 today from an Ebay score over last weekend - Appears to be mint un-used. Finish is Excellent - THis one is equipped with reversing headlights. This is a quick picture with my New Canon SX150 camera - Will upload some better pictures later as i am still learning camera functions - settings. First pictures i took - the settings were too high to upload to forum - current setting is1600x1200 - Factory setting was 4320x3240 - For those of you that can't get your pics to upload - check your camera setting

Never seen a Tyco Super 630 with reverse lights. Musta been rare or very few sold.

They were offered for a short time in the late 70's; I have a MIB IGC version. The GG1's have the same circuit; AFAIK Tyco was the first manufacturer to offer this feature.
The only way to spot one for certain is with the box that advertises it, unless a seller is savvy enough to look inside and spot the extra wiring. I imagine there are probably dozens listed and sold "loose" where this feature is not even known about. Of course if the engine is tested, the lights should work....

| Just a REMINDER - THE GOLDEN EAGLE WAS ONLY SOLD IN 1980 - Around mid year the Golden Eagle came out with reversing lights - the early 1980 engines only had front lights- I do not know if the sets came with reverse lights on locomotive

Very nice find and a sharp eye or thick wallet as it were. Interesting that the reversing light sticker uses the early S630 Rivarossi art.

Brian - come to think of it my ICG was the 1980 Steel Hauler paint scheme too. Thanks for the reminder.
Did yours come with a handrail kit? You rarely see golden eagles with handrails...

Somewhere, as I clean up my stuff and refocus my trains I will find some new in the package Tyco/Mantua railing sets. When I do I'll let people on the forum know...
I think I have a GP20 a C430 and a C630 set. Have to look....

Nice! I just got one yesterday for about 30 bucks plus shipping with the matching caboose. I have always wanted a Golden Eagle given that it is also the mascot of my alma mater. I saw one for sale last week and the seller described it as "immaculate" but said he had never ran it. To my surprise, not only was it in gem mint condition, the thing really did appear to have never been run. It runs better than any of my PT's. Now off to film a video of it.

My LotW this time is my first GE, Golden Eagle that was sent to me by a forum member and I bought another minty one from him. Good luck with the video.

Brian,
I think the minty one you sent had handrails. BTW the first one is a great runner and the second hasn't been run yet :)
