Another oddity I got from Bob Beers. The prototype (in front) is a close match to the production unit (rear). Note that the numbers are missing and there are spots of over spray around the cab door handrails, etc. The lettering is decal.

The use of decals on these test units has always intrigued me; owing to the lack of film that bridges all letters, they almost seem less like decals and more like dry transfers, which is still curious. Seems it would be expensive to produce finished decals/transfers for a handful of items.
I have the F-unit decaled the same way, but it is only on one side. Guess an item had to make it further in the R&D process to merit both sides. The silver rear is kinda odd looking... that's an interesting proposal / change.

I got the matching caboose...
I've dubbed the company owner of the caboose as CCR... The Midnight Special.

I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
