I drove by this exact spot last Saturday but didn't pay attention if this was sitting buy the highway in Altoona not far from where I first met my wife.
I hope NS will do others like PRR, PC, NH, and Chessie since they are part of the family.
I found this after the original posting. The article said NS has announced 18 additional schemes total. This should be fun for railfans.

Here are sketches of the other
schemes.

Here's a close-up of the PRR.

I'm anxious to see the Penssy 5 stripe, Reading, Southern, NYC lightning stripe, and Lackawanna for starters. It seems strange to see fallen flag schemes like this on such a boxy loco, though. The corners of the nose will put a crease in the Pennsy pinstripes.

Thanks for the other links fellas.
I check railpictures.net every day but hadn't seen the Southern or the CR on the rails until I saw the links.
I wonder what the time frame is for releases of new schemes?

I mistakenly put this also in the Nickel Plate Road Heritage paint scheme post and it should be here. I think this album will be updated from the site as more schemes are released.

I have to agree with Gareth. As I thought, the Pennsy cat whisker scheme was designed for locomotives with a streamlined front. IMHO, it just doesn't flatter a modern boxy diesel.

Yeah, Nelson I saw you said that earlier.

Maybe a single stripe in Brunswick would have worked better here?

I get the whole resonate thing but poorly executed is just that. Sad really. Funny the Nickle Plate seems to work ok. Hmmm

Most of these schemes don't suite the axe carved personna of the newer rigs.... JMOoC

I have to agree with Nelson, I'm from Pennsylvania and the PRR looks of that Evo GE just doesn't cut it for me either, B runswick Green single stripe PRR might have been a better choice however, wasn't that PRR's "Varnish" paint tho? Not the Tuscon Red?

The Lehigh unit tho, looks good, why hell if I know!

I was raised in PA and I think PRR retro job it looks great. I think EM-1's suggestion would be fine too or Nelson's as well. The square boxy locomotive is here and it is a canvas for these old and missed paint schemes. This will be fun to see on the rails and Ilook forward to seeing more pictures.

AF, after seeing this I've revised my opinion.

In the first photo the color did seem off, but not like Gareth said. It looked too pale, like milk chocolate, so it was probably the lighting in that particular photo. In this image, it's really quite striking.

You're welcome, AF. You hardly missed it, since you commented a little more than an hour after I posted.

A Penn Central unit is easy... All they have to do is slap PC logos over their own and then spray the unit with a thick layer of grime.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children in advance, and $30 for adults and $20 for children the day of the event. Children 2 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the NCTM's website or by calling 704-636-2889, ext. 237. Norfolk Southern employees and retirees are eligible for a $5 discount, with a limit of four tickets per purchase. Revised nose looks a lot better. Lettering is still way wrong. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine - they went all out to make sure to get some of these right (having paint special mixed to the old formulas for Erie two-tone green, for instance) and I can't understand why they couldn't spend like eight bucks for a set of Microscale decals to use as the basis for the artwork to make the LV unit look right. Heck as first done the nose and rear diamonds had yellow stripes around them - that never happened, ever, back in the day.

The red itself is debatable because when the LV needed to paint a unit, if there wasn't enough red on hand, they'd mix in a container of white, or black, or whatever was handy to stretch it out - but I agree, if it's supposed to represent a factory paint job as on the last new units the LV got, it's too dark/too brown.
