Hey guys;
A friend found these under the stairs.
Anyone know who made them. They don't go together as far as I can tell.
The shell is plastic.

Thanks, Y'all!

Hey Frank:
Can't find a Silvine entry on HoSeeker.
Btw, the shell is Plastic not metal...
I'm sure they don't belong together....
I love that little shell, though I will change it some....

agree with frank regards the chassis but the body could be from early lifelike that has has the window panes removed as well as the extra window and bunker,to make space for that motor ken http://tycotrain.tripod.com/lifelikemodeltrainscollectorsresource/id53.html which would explain the red showing through,but the more i look at it and see that red think chassis contains plastic as well

The motor looks just like an mdc roundhouse version. I can tell cause I've spent alot of time working on my mdc 0-6-0t

Kenny ; You are so polite. I have to learn from you. No I seen, what I thought was one of my favorite locomotives chopped up in a useless way, to allow for a bigger motor to be installed, and leaving no way to support the cab in the rear of the loco. I thought without asking if it were either the die cast or plastic version of the engine. It just so happens that I am working on the Silvine, die cast version of that loco now. If I had asked the right question at the right time I could have given the correct information , instead of leading people off in the wrong direction. Next time I hope to think first. * I'll put something on the Silvine 0-4-0t I am working on, in the workbench thread. Frank

Hey Frank:
Don't worry about it. You were going in the right direction.
It's more than likely a Life-Like I found the coal bunker that had been cut off in the box of bit's and pieces. As to the chassis, I looked at some Silvine pics there seems to be a few variations.... but the underside looks like it's right for the LL unit which means my friends brother likely added the I think Pittman motor. With the bunker in coal place no way the motor fits..... What motor was originally in there, anyone got a picture?

Gareth ; The Silvine was the original . made in the early 1950's. The first locomotive I know of made with the name " New One , Japan" labled on the bottom. Life like got the dies in the mid 60s and made the plastic version. The motor used looks the same as the one in the picture but is smaller in length . Made to fit that plastic body. Unless that is the original. That motor looks to be sticking way out the back beyond where the rear wall casting would have been.
* The New One small drive gear and vertical shaft motor were repeated on all other locos they produced. The one I have always looked for is the Philadelphia and Reading bicycle. A real nice looking loco that when running has a hard time pulling itself around the track. But it looks great doing it. It is a real crowd pleaser.
* Like I said I will put something in the work bench thread on the Silvine I am doing now. Look in " Watz Go'in on." Frank
