Feb 20th 2011 - First day of railroad operations begin. DOT and railroad officials have placed signs informing public of train service beginning. The tracks were abandoned over 20 years ago by CSX and have been restored to operating condition. CSX and NS will have trackage rights on this line. Could be used as a mainline detour if needed should something occur. I am off work and am going to try to get video of locomotive running. THis is a test run on the 20th to make sure signals activate and to get motorists use to trains running again on this line. I have video of restoration and pictures too. When i get time -going to make a video to put on Youtube.

Thanks for posting. A railroad starting up, instead of folding! That's good news. P&N. Something else I might model. I don't know my diesel locomotives very well, do you know what type that is? And what industries they will serve.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

NC, those are GP15's I think. Those signs would make for interesting modeling subject! What business does the P&N serve?

Wow! A new startup is something you don't see every day. I hope it's successful where the others failed - not an uncommon deal. Still, given the investment necessary to rehab track after two decades and source engines, I too am curious what the primary online industries are?
That is indeed a GP-15. Not ex-CSX though, as theirs had dynamic brakes and Chessie battery slots.
I like the paint scheme. Pretty elegant for a conglomerate.

This seems to be happening a bit more in recent years. A few years back the Georges Creek railway got started in Maryland. Now they are sporting awesome power like this. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=388895&nseq=3
And some classy older units too. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=386575&skip=1 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=246058&nseq=25
