Amazing what you find after you clean out the garage...

two weeks ago I found a Model power or equivalent 628 chassis and started thinking...why don't I just try and make this work on my 630? so off to the always crowded workbench I go and within 4-5 hours I had a running 630

first I "hogged out" the bolsters

And then played with a way of mounting the MP trucks, a bit of scrap styrene fixed that...

Then I seperated the fuel tank from the original weights and re-added some weight, I had no idea initially on how the motor would fit so I cut the ends...learning later that this was uneccissary. A "new" fuel tank and some cerrobend should fix that issue.

One of my spare Athearn motors is the guinea pig, as the driveline mathes perfectly woth the MP drive, a flat can motor and some new shafts will be the permanent motor, this was more of a "would it work" plan...

Rear truck installed, I'll probably put some type of skirting to hide all those white blocks

"Finished unit". It rides high unfortunately, but I think with some added details I can hide this issue:

Now the big question, does it run? You bet it does, and has no binding issues turning or such. Still needs a lot of work but the built concept is solid, so I shall continue forth on this project, if anyone has suggestions or ideas throw em at me! I'll keep you updated as I can...

just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader
