I went to the great train expo today at the Reliant Center in Houston. I wasn't expecting to much but was pleasantly surprised.
I got both of these for 45 bucks, the seller had 3 more of the steamers and about 6 of the GM&O GP20's. The steamer has the original funnel and smoke oil. The 430 came with handrails in the box too.
I also found this Athearn maintenance set, N deM Mexican railroad. I've started collecting some of the Athearn Mexican RR releases, I've never seen the red tanker.
Another pair of Athearn Mexican RR cars. I also found a Life Like 50' Tootsie roll car.
Not a bad day, spent to much money, but wish I had taken more cash with me ..............

| Thankls guys. I already had each of the Tyco's but could not pass them up. The 2 I have do not have boxes. There's another show coming this weekend at the Stafford center, southwest of Houston. I've had good luck there in the past. Ben, what are you looking for?

Nice! If you run into that guy again pick me up a G-M-O-2-8-0.
How was the GTE down there? This year's was so sparse I almost wondered if they would be shutting down.

Hey Tony, I was surprised by the show. At first glance from the door it looked like a small show vendor wise. Also my past experience with the GTE was that vendors had more brand new items as opposed to used and old items. I was happy to see a mixture of both.
The seller of the GM&O said he may be at the show this coming Saturday, if I see him I'll pick up a loco for you. They all had the funnel in the box too. He also had a GN, and CN, several 430 Virginian's, and 2 GT 430. All in boxes. On a side note I found out Bomberos is Spanish for fireman, so I guess the red tanker is a fire fighting car, minus the hose hook up on top.

Ooh, the GN one as well? Tell you what, if he strikes the same kind of deal, I'd be interested in that (and maybe the CN) as well...!
The Cox and AHM / Model Power firefighting tank car was based on the Athearn tank in that set, so if you find one it should be pretty easy to swap the platform, etc. over. I like that Cemex hopper myself; has a pretty snazzy 80's stripe-o-matic paint scheme.

The hobby shop near me has a Roundhouse N de M RS3, new/old stock, black body, red cab, large white N de M letters. Been sitting in a cabinet display for years. Yet to be bought and assembled by a customer... interested?
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Extremely rare. Maybe one will surface once every few months. I got mine for $26 on eBay with a mantua 2-8-2!

Hmmm... almost went to this train show, but I already had plans to go to another local train show, a week from then, and my modest budget can't support finds and 2 shows.
Looks like there was some great stuff though. I like the Warbonnet on the 430.
