Never have found out what the deal is on this one. I have what is a standard dark blue B&O GP35, got it as a shell - that has white lettering instead of the correct yellow.

Now is it an error, is it a Cox run, something else? It's not faded, all the screen on it is white and the shade doesn't vary. My guess is maybe it's a test shot or the first run of this roadname - if they used B&W photos for the artwork, it would be an easy error to mistake yellow for white.

I picked up a powered of 60s-70s vintage (Santa Fe) and parted that out to make this one into a complete locomotive.

LV,

This is indeed a factory error - likely from one of the very first runs of GP35's in 1966. At the time the "SW1500" (SW7) was being done in blue and white and I would only guess the painters did a run of the GP35's by mistake the same way. Mine is a very early non fly wheel unit in the original solid blue content panel blue box. Early drive without flywheels and brass wheels.
