Just watched Duel on Youtube. Found out its a '56-'64 Peterbilt. Is there a truck in HO close to the year range thats LWB and twin axled? The real one is for sale! Neat story of this vehicle! Check it out:

I'd buy it! Maybe I could terrorize somebody in a '71 Plymouth Valiant! I think the truck in the movie had awsome patina! Like how he used 2 pieces of rail for a front bumper!

The link won't open. That "for sale" might be an old ad. Last I heard, about a year ago, it was owned by a big truck fanatic in Lincolnton, NC. He has a truck museum of sorts. There is an article on the web somewhere that explains exactly what year/model truck that is. There are two documented trucks used in the movie. Obviously, one got destroyed. There are rumors there was a third truck. I've been looking to make an HO version, myself. Either modify an existing HO truck or build from scratch. Can't justify the cost of that resin model, either.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

Spielberg's first movie straight out of film school, and one of his best.

Ya, its funny becuase the scene where the man in the Plymouth dials up the cops, Steven's reflection is seen in the glass!

My trucks. I thought I'd add $0.02CA
The tanker trailer looks a wee bit... I should weather these up a bit and install a European copy-cat version of Duel.
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
