Ken, I say go for the Mohawk. The 2 are now made in non-brass materials. I like the Mohawk.

If pulling passengers go with the 4-6-2, for freight go with the 4-4-2. I just always thought that the bigger wheels looked better to me with passenger trains. Freights look better with more axles. Just my two cents though. There is no way to loose with those choices.
