Hi Folks,
I got this unit in a box of so called junk and did some research and cannot find what model it is.
I tested the motor and it runs!!!! needs a good cleaning. It looks fine except I don't have a tender for it.
if anyone has a tender let me know or is it too old to be lucky enough to find one??

Hi Ken : I would call that a 0-4-0. I can't picture a 0-2-0 working. It would tip over and get stuck on the track. With proper weight weight distribution a 0-2-2 or a 2-2-0 will work, But a 0-2-0 would just flop over and crash.

I've got their version of the 0-4-0 tank locomotive. They seem to have lifted the Tyco/Mantua body styles. In fact, my tank was sold to me as a Mantua, but I found out different when I saw the motor. With a cleaning and a bit of oil on the motor shaft ends, it is a nice runner, though. Has a working headlight also, and you can smell that old-fashioned 'ozone' smell! I would guess a small Tyco tender would match yours.

Ken,
It has a plate on the boiler that has Alco 1930 stamped on it.
I guess any slope back tender would be fine.
Thanks.
I wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas and the BEST new year.

Ken ; Another thing about the type tender. Depending on the look you want for your steam engines. The tender does alot to give your railroad its own unique appearance. Tyco-Mantua released in ready to run and in kit form a 0-4-0 PONY. This loco used the old time tender from the Rogers 4-6-0 with the standard 0-4-0 loco. The addition of a Vanderbilt, low side tender, or smaller 34' or 36' USRA tender, can give a railroad its very own appearance.
* When MDC was producing its midsize line of locomotives it also had a line of smaller tenders. It was a great time for modelers. Availability of these tenders was good. They were easy to find. MDC's choice to stop production has hurt the modeler a lot. Their stopping of production and parts needed to keep up past sales show this new MDC to be a unreliable company. There products, not to be trusted. For now all they wish to do is sell something and walk away. Alot can be written about this. With blame going to the government as well. The truth is the modeler is hurt. Product choice is hurt. Maybe this will make us better modelers for now we have to build alot of what we need.
* With the current government trying to get home businesses going again, and Lessing the tax burden on them. A new resurgence to small companies may occur.
