Several weeks ago, I finally dug out this glass Triebwagen I'd bought off Ebay some years ago. Has several <ahem!> politically incorrect passengers, but was a nice piece. Anyway, I've been searching the last few days for the maker of this, and it seems Roco, Marklin, and Fleischmann all listed this model in HO. Here's a 1:1 scale photo of my passenger touring car below :

I liked it when I first saw it, so when I found one on Ebay, I bought one. Here's a picture of mine below :

So far, I've found light and dark blue, and red ones, but none the color of mine, except maybe this one below -

I think that may be it, but only picture of this color I've been able to find so far. Here's others I've found below -

Another name for them is Glaeserner Zug. Anyway, I'm thinking I have a Roco version, wish I could find more references to them, and my particular model/color. So far, that one tiny photo is all I've found. Even searching for Roco's I haven't found the green Munchen 1999 model I have. If anyone else finds anything, let me know! I DO know I need a traction tire for one side, I took it to my club's layout and ran it on DCC Saturday, it did fine, although I knew it was hitting the ties with a flange before. Did so again, but intermittently. Once I finally looked at the wheels,I noticed a missing tire. Maybe I can make an Athearn fit. Takes a flat wide band. or try to see if I can find Roco parts. Anyway, neat people-mover, I like the all-glass top.

AMC,
Your glass car represents the pre WW2 era of the German State Railways (Deutsche Reichsbahn).
The grey paint and the German soldiers are the clues, also the DRG herald on the side is prewar.
I'm not sure this car was used during wartime though.

From what I read, one was damaged, the other was put into heavy walled storage in '43, and survived the bombings, and came out later being used as a tourist tram again. So they were used for a limited time , then one was hidden and put away for better days. I think it still survives to this day, the blue one, anyway.

Hi all,

this train was in use until 1995 for sightseeing tours on the most scenic routes around Munich in southern Germany. On Dec, 12th 1995 it had a frontal crash in Garmisch Partenkirchen (south of Munich) with Austrian electric 1044 235, which was en route with a passenger train. 1 was killed, 46 injured.

Currently it's being restored in Augsburg, where it's kept in a railway museum. It is doubtful that the train will run again, as the power bogie is heavily damaged.

Cheers,

Martin
