I have had this since new when I was 8 years old. I just did some research and it was only made in 1982 and also the only set to ever have glow in the dark pieces like lettering, the boiler nose, valve gear and so on. The cave piece is long gone but I went over it last year and got it running again. I saw a few on ebay ranging from $89.99 to 299.99 its just a piece of my childhood from the early 80s. It still glows in the dark good for nearly being 30 years old.

Pretty neat item, I don't recall that one by Lionel. Then again,I had a 1963 Lionel childhood set, so the newer stuff never interested me as much. Thanks for posting that.

my first lionel was a cannonball freight set. it has glow in the dark caboose windows. i've still got it too. i think it was 1980? i'm getting old, but it beats the alternative!
