It's early and I'm on my way to a meeting at church and thought I'd post a pic of the used Athearn Trainmaster I bought yesterday. This is the first TM I've ever had. It has the old style motor and huge flywheels and metal truck sideframes, all original I think. I have posted a pic of the chassis and motor in the Athearn section

I remember when that second Crescent was offered back in the late 80s/early90s, Ken...part of a Franklin Mint or similar limited edition, just north of $325 when they were offered...

To finish off my xOTW postings, I found this neat DMBC ( Drive Microbusss Crazy ) loco at the TCA O gauge show yesterday. And Noooooooooooooo, no Gimmeeeee's! LOL. It's MINE. Adding to my expanding Hustler collection, this black beauty makes a nice spinning sound while the worn-out rubber bands won't grab the shafts and turn the wheels. But, with some new drive bands should rush on down the track soon. Has the typical shell broken at the holding tab on one side. And a bit dusty, too. But still a nice little unit.
Even got the D&RG Athearn box with it, I think this is also my first (blue) box for a Hustler. The guy had an older red Athearn Hustler in the original yellow and red box, I was tempted, but I don't usually buy for the box, and I have plenty of red ones already ( Hustlers ). I think he was asking $25 for it. So I passed on that Hustler, #57 . Box was in decent shape, too. - Note - the track it's sitting on, I found a stash of Playart track at a vendor, first time I'd run across that track ever. Ballast is more cream colored than gray. Not a bad design, has wide paddle contacts, and not hard to get apart, either. Got about 5 straights and 6 curves, so not enough to do an entire loop, but can use for my Playart train display now. Never know what you'll find at these shows.

Hi guys!
This is my LOTW:
It is a kitbashed Mantua brass & die cast 2-6-2 Prairie:
It originated as a 2-6-0 Mogul. The previous owner added about 1" to the boiler's length by what looks to be combining part of another shell or a piece of brass stock. It needs some finishing and I already swapped the cheap plastic rear truck wheel set for a vintage brass spoked one. I plan to do the same to the front, hopefully with a matching wheel set I have. I think the brass wheel set looks better.
I also want to add some detail & support under the cab to fill in this area.

I'm a little late to the party this week, and I don't have too much to show. Here's a less than spectacular AHM GP18. After cleaning the motor and replacing the broken horn, it's a solid little runner. I think I paid $3 the other day.

Here is my loco for the week. Also an AHM. Surprisingly a pretty good runner. Now about those couplers....

Here's a recent eBay purchase. I had a big cleanup job because decaying foam had left green corrosion all over the handrails and some of the wheels on the right side. I had to remove them all and give them a short soak in white vinegar to remove it (a word of caution: it will take the chemical blackening right off of any blackened metal parts, so don't use it on them.). I had to disassemble it and clean out all of the stray foam bits, and re-lube with Teflon oil and grease. It runs very well now, and looks great. It was new old stock, so it was never run before. It even came with the flanged main drivers.
Thomas, I really like the New One 2-4-2, and Kris you stole that logger.

Gorgeous scenery, shaygetz, and such a neat old timer!
NickelPlate, your B&O steamer is beautiful but I never knew foam corroded, that's something I better keep a watchful eye for.
For LOTW, I drew from my top shelf something I hope you all like. But then, what's not to like? The Union Piggyback! EMD General Purpose 20, engine #488 of the Union Pacific Railroad, faithfully modelled by Life-like Proto 2000. This is the pride of my diesel roster, the best that I own. Included was a "Consumer Applied Detail" pack, somewhat vague on which bit went where so left off for now. Still a mighty fine locomotive, nevertheless.

Hi Tykowolf,
It happened a lot to the foam cradles for old brass, and 60's AHM Rivarossi stuff. I think it was an inferior type of foam, because the foam inserts for the AHM C-Liners and BL-2's from that time have lasted, so go figger. It's amazing that it can oxidize nickel silver. The handrails are clean now, but if you look under magnification you can see some pitting.
